We present 5 amazing boats with alternative propulsion – electric RIBs, boats and catamarans, from 7 to almost 15m long, including Solliner 21 from Green Dream Boats, Vita Seal and Pulse 63 from RS Electric Boats.
Archipelago 47
The Archipelago 47, a 14.5-metre catamaran designed for ocean exploration, offers a range of propulsion options such as hybrid and electric. Combining the practicality of an offshore cruiser with the comfort of a family vessel, it is the ultimate catamaran for adventurous individuals. Experience this extraordinary vessel at berth 10 on the marina during the show..
The team at Archipelago Yachts has set out to create the first sustainable long-distance leisure boat on the market. Using innovative methanol reforming technology, their 63-foot explorer vessel will have zero carbon emissions. Constructed from aluminium and equipped with the ability to cross oceans using methanol as its sole fuel source, the Archipelago e63 will revolutionize the marine industry.
Vita Seal – all-electric RIB
Vita Yachts offers Vita SEALelectricRIB, a 7.2m all-electric commercial RIB that supports rapid DC charging. With a quick 1-hour charging time and a blend of power and functionality, the Vita electric workboats are perfectly tailored to meet the needs of ports and marinas.
The SEAL, designed for port activity, can operate for up to 10 hours continuously at reduced speeds. Additionally, with DC supercharging, it can quickly charge between shifts, reaching a 20-70% charge in just 30 minutes. The high torque allows for easy completion of complex maneuvers, and the Vita proprietary responsive controls ensure maximum towing and pushing force even at low RPMs.
Its 7.2m length and squared bow make it suitable for operations in limited spaces, such as between pontoons. Customization options are also available based on the specific needs of each port. Furthermore, the SEAL is better for the environment and the health of boat operators, as it does not emit toxic fumes or cause harmful spills like traditional petrol work boats.
Pulse 63 – 100% electric RIB
RS Electric Boats is offering its revolutionary Pulse 63 electricRIB, offering a sustainable solution for both work and leisure on the water. This cutting-edge RIB is 100% electric, utilizing eco-friendly propulsion and sustainable materials, all sourced from the UK. The design of the boat is centered around the electric drive and battery, maximizing the working space in the cockpit and optimizing the range of the vessel (45nm at 15 knots). With a top speed of 23 knots, the Pulse 63 offers a fast and efficient way to navigate the water. At RS Electric Boats, we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy our seas and lakes in harmony with nature, now and in the future..
The mission of the shipyard is to make a tangible difference by providing you with the means to contribute towards a cleaner and healthier environment. The Pulse 63 is the first of its kind to feature a fully integrated electric drive, delivering a dynamic and efficient performance. The electric propulsion system is virtually silent, creating minimal wake for a discreet operation and a smooth and comfortable ride. Moreover, the design of the RIB can be tailored to your exact specifications, including the color of the tubes, deck, and upholstery.
Solliner 21 – electric motor boat powered by solar panels
Another electric boat, or in this case we should call it a solar boat, is the Solliner 21 solar boat. This solar-powered catamaran utilizes energy from 4 solar panels to completely offset the boat’s energy usage. It is perfect for a relaxing outing with family or colleagues, as it is environmentally friendly and features a cutting-edge, stylish design. Made with top-of-the-line materials and equipped with modern green technology, this watercraft produces no harmful emissions and requires minimal upkeep, making it both economical and easy to operate.
The boat can comfortably accommodate eight people, with plenty of room to relax on the U-shaped couch or the sun deck without being disturbed by engine noise or breathing in polluted air. The cockpit of this boat comes equipped with two large built-in coolers for supplies and a central table, creating an ideal spot for unwinding and having fun. The Solliner 21 offers more than just freedom from power sources.
Simply step aboard and take the helm. Operating the boat is easy and intuitive, and in many countries, no special permits are required. With its 360° view, one person can easily navigate the yacht while admiring the surroundings, regardless of the weather.
Optima Electric Yachts
At last year’s Boat Show in Southampton, UK, Optima Electric Yachts debuted their inaugural all-electric boat – a luxurious 10-metre dayboat/weekender. This innovative vessel boasts an ultra-efficient, low resistance hull design, resulting in significantly reduced energy consumption and an impressive range of 200 nautical miles. Additionally, it requires less frequent charging and offers comfortable sea handling.
According to Chloe Kendall, Optima’s Commercial Director, the 10m boat features a double cabin, separate head, spacious galley, and ample social areas. The large cockpit table can accommodate up to 10 people, providing a perfect setting for socializing. The boat’s unconventional engine room layout also allows for a spacious garage to store equipment such as dinghies, outboards, fenders, and even exciting additions like stand-up paddleboards and foiling boards.
